This is absolutely wild. The PR merged 2 commits from bunjavascript:main into anthropics:main — essentially taking the leaked code and making it official. It closed multiple open source request issues that had been sitting there for years (#59, #456, #2846, #22002). The community response was absolutely fucking massive: 132 thumbs up, 76 laugh reactions, 12 hoorays, 32 rockets, and 31 eyes. The PR got approved by 64+ reviewers in what appears to be record time.
But hold up — it’s not that simple. Commenters quickly pointed out that this PR is notably missing some “features” that were part of the initial leaked release from PR #41391. Specifically, there’s no sign of the “undercover mode” — a capability that would let Claude Code contribute LLM-generated patches to public repositories without disclosing their synthetic nature.
